Overview

The DC Operations Manager partners with Senior DC Leadership to develop and implement strategies that drive continuous improvement and maximize productivity and efficiency to reduce overall costs. The DC Operations Manager must be knowledgeable in multiple facets of the Distribution Center (DC), as to oversee and partner with multiple functions to manage warehouse staff, optimize logistical strategies and maintain a safe work environment. DC Operations Manager should be comfortable developing team members and meeting their needs for career growth.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and oversees job assignments and planning daily labor schedules including directing warehouse supervisors to achieve prescribed objectives
  • Ensures the accurate and timely preparation, processing, distribution and retention of all necessary reports and records regarding warehouse operations
  • Audits operations to ensure service standards are being met and work with other departments to ensure overall effective operations
  • Drives continual improvements that lead to more efficient and accurate processes that improve operation cost
  • Supervises warehouse workers and supervisors, provide feedback, and set performance objectives to ensure timely and cost-effective operations
  • Monitors and controls departmental expenses including overtime to meet or exceed financial plan
  • Takes proactive role in establishing and carrying out shrinkage control disciplines and programs and accepts high level of responsibility for DC's shrinkage performance
  • Ensures department-level compliance with key company standards of safety, facility maintenance, and postings/notifications
  • Use discretion and independent judgment while maintaining the integrity of our vision in making all business decisions
  • Coaches, trains, and develops management team providing both informal (e.g. on-floor coaching) and formal (e.g. written evaluation) job performance-based feedback
  • Conducts start-up meetings with supervisors to discuss daily results, staffing needs, scheduling, housekeeping and work assignments
  • Initiates and partners with Human Resources regarding corrective action up to and including terminations
  • Uses Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to manage inventory and lead teams to drive operational excellence and cost savings

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of distribution center experience; at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • 5 years’ experience managing supervisors and managers preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
  • Required Computer skills: Microsoft Suite (Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of High Jump warehouse management system and Integrated WCS a plus
  • Experience in working with diverse workforce
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time
  • Ability to stand and work on concrete floors for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work extended work hours during peak weeks
